Episode 5: The Zit
The Annual Three Rivers Mother-Daughter Fashion Show is approaching.
Rayanne's slut potential and Sharon's hooters get mentioned on a sophomore
girls list and Angela gets a zit.
Angela discovers a pimple at the same time that Patty wants her to
participate in a mother-daughter fashion show. Angela does not want to be the
center of public attention, but Patty seems to need it for approval and neither
can fully understand the other's attitude. At school, the "Sophomore Top
40" rates Sharon as "Best Hooters," and Rayanne as "Most
Slut Potential.
You can see that Patty and Graham mid-life crisis scenes cleverly parallel
Angela´s tough teenage years. In the pilot episode Angela´s rebellion is
reflected by her newly dyed red hair, which is an action that her parents don´t
fully understand. But in the next episode, when her mother Patty chops off
her own hair, the family is equally shocked. Angela and Patty´s lives are
almost parallel at that moment.
